I just finished watching Emma (the A&E version, with Kate Beckinsale) with Aubrey. I love these Jane Austen stories (books and movies). It makes me sad when they are over, because I want to continue living in a time with beautiful dresses, breathtaking scenery, gorgeous hairdos, and sweet stories where everything turns out right in the end. Ah, if only my life were written by Jane Austen...

i share your love of all things 'austen'. my mom has instilled in each of us a love for her stories and the movies that were made from them...even the cheesey soundstage-filmed bbc versions that are 8 hours long. we love them!!! on p.b.s. (kued 7) for the next month or more there are 'masterpiece theater' versions of some of her books. make sure you check them out!!! we caught part of 'persuasion' tonight and the leading guy was a real hottie-and even british!!!
Amen. Jane Austen was amazing, absolutely amazing. I just finished a biography called Jane Austen, it was so good, I loved it.
My all time favorite book of hers has to be Pride and Prejudice, but Emma is pretty good too. Probably because I relate more to Elizabeth, and Emma is kind of a ditz sometimes.
I love all of the Jane Austen movies, as well. I absolutely LOVE the movie from 2006, I think, with Keira Knightly. I have to say one of my all-time favorite scenes in any movie is the 45 second walk of Mr. Darcy in the morning mist. I nearly swoon during that part. He looks fine!
Nothing like real romance!
That's funny, cause the P&P version with Kiera Knightly is the one I couldn't stand. It didn't work for me. :D I guess I'm too in love with what I call the "real version" (the long one). Mindy, I have that Emma movie. Have you seen the other version with Gwyneth Paltrow? I don't have that one.
I like the long version of Pride and Prejudice best, but I liked the Keira Knightly one fine. I know I've seen Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow, but I can't remember it very well. I'm not a huge Gwyneth fan, though, and I heard that version is not as true to the book. I'm going to watch it again soon, though, for comparison.
