I passed! I've spent most days last week taking CPR classes, and tested today. I missed one dumb tricky question on the written test, but I got all the rest right, and I passed both the written and practical. I'm really glad that I took these classes (last time I certified was when I was a teenager) but I DO NOT want to have to use my knowledge! When I was learning it, everything was fine, and it seemed easy enough... until I started thinking about what I was actually learning this for, and then I'd get a little freaked out. I am scared that someone's life could depend on me, although if the need ever arises, I will be very grateful that I CAN help.
I had to be certified in CPR to be able to teach the Silver Sneakers classes (for grandpas and grandmas). I've taught two classes so far, and it is so much fun! I love these "old farts" (as they themselves put it) already. One guy is turning 96 next month! They are all amazing.

What the heck is Silver Sneakers? Do you have to be retired to be one?
Congrats on passing! That is very cool. Silver Sneakers? Is that an exercise class. Are they afraid you are going to push them to hard and they might have a heart attack?
Silver Sneakers is a workout program for old people. I don't think you have to be a certain age to come, but it's very much geared toward the "older" adult. I had to get trained to teach the classes, and they talk about helping them retain or regain range of movement, muscle strength, balance... stuff like that.
Amy, I hope I never push them that hard, but I guess that's one of the reasons we have to learn it. Please oh please do not let any of them have a heart attack on my watch!!
well now i'll feel happy AND safe to be around you!
96??? Wow. That just about puts me to shame. I guess I'll go workout. But I may need some CPR as well. Congratulations to you!
Wow! That's amazing! Amazing for you to get CPR certified again and for teaching the Silver Sneakers class and that one of the guys in your class is going to be 96!
